THE PARTNER of Nigel Shakespeare paid an emotional tribute in court to the man she thought she would ‘spend the rest of her life with.’
Jacqueline Cull, who had been with the motorcycle enthusiast for more than 24 years, said she first met the former engineer when she was 21 and he was 24.
“We just got on so well with each other and talked all the time.”
She said motorcycles were his passion and he even built one in her dining room.
Whether he was at her house or not, they would always talk for hours and hold hands when they were around each other.
Weeping in the stand she admitted they had ‘their ups and downs’ like normal couples did, but never left each other or went to bed without a kiss.
She said he was ‘cheeky’ and always managed to make her laugh.
“He was so loving and caring. I never met anyone who didn’t like him. I miss him so much. He was my soulmate.”
She added she never expected his death ‘not even in her worst nightmares’, and since he had passed away she had drank more to help her sleep and had to force herself to leave the house and pass the place where he tragically died.
“I can’t sleep, I lack in confidence and I’m lonely,” she said.
“I lost a part of me and a part of my personality. He was the love of my life.”
