MORE than 30 teachers and pupils from across the continent visited a Studley school as part of an eco-friendly partnership.

Visitors from Austria, Turkey, Spain and Sweden descended on St Mary’s Catholic Primary school as it hosted the UK leg of the European Comenius partnership.

The six schools from across Europe are linked together as part of a two year recycling and sustainability project which aims to raise awareness of green issues.

Teachers in the area will also have the opportunity to travel to Sweden in May to find out more about how they tackle environmental issues in their schools.

As part of the visit, staff and students worked with members from WEAVE Recycle, which is a creative recycling resource and training provider in Warwickshire.

Using off-cuts, bi-products and end of line materials, everyone was split into teams and created supernatural environmentally-friendly creatures.

Owen Finnegan, head teacher of St Mary’s, said: “We hope our European friends not only have had good fun but now also have plenty of ideas to take back to their own schools and share with their pupils.”
