A SPECTACULAR Chinese Lion Dance to mark the New Year delighted shoppers at the Kingfisher Centre.

The performance organised by Redditch Chinese Association on Saturday (February 8) saw Chinese Lions dancing to the beat of a symbol and drum to bring in luck and prosperity for the year of the horse.

As well as a visit to HSBC on Church Green West, Choy Lee Fut’s Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe performed inside Barclays Bank and in Worcester Square during the day with activities including chopstick lessons from Fay Yeng of the Yum Tum Club and Chinese calligraphy.

A spokeswoman said: “The dance was brought to a stunning finale when the Lions unravelled two banners wishing the people of Redditch a Happy New Year - Kong Hay Fat Choy.”

Redditch Chinese Association also set up a pop up shop in Worcester Square to add to shoppers knowledge of Chinese culture.
