A WHOLE new world of books was ready to be explored as a borough school officially opened its library.

The new area at Crabbs Cross Academy was unveiled by Redditch MP Karen Lumley, chair of the school’s trust, last Friday (January 31) with each child being issued with their library card and getting to take home a book to read at the weekend. Book quizzes and a reading challenge are in store in the coming weeks.

Headteacher Rachel Roberts said: “The school didn’t have a library before so it’s a really big thing for us.

“We are really trying to raise the profile of reading and instill a love of reading in the children. They were very excited about it”
