THIS is the woman who hopes to become Alcester and Studley's next MP for the Liberal Democrats.

Elizabeth Adams will go up against current Conservative MP Nadhim Zahawi at the next General Election in 2015 after members of the Stratford and South Warwickshire Liberal Democrat party unanimously voted her in.

The campaigner, who lives in the constituency with her family, is currently leading a party campaign to protect communities from over development and has set up a petition.

She is also known for her dedication to tackling and preventing domestic abuse as well as encouraging job growth.

She said: "I feel honoured local members have chosen me to run for election as the next Member of Parliament for Stratford-upon-Avon in 2015.

"As someone who lives locally and uses the same services other residents use day in, day out, I understand the issues and concerns facing local people.

"I look forward to working with our Liberal Democrat councillors to build a stronger economy and fairer society."

John Barrett, Liberal Democrat party chair, said Elizabeth represented a great choice for local residents.

"Elizabeth has already hit the ground running and is out knocking on doors and listening to what issues really matter to residents across Stratford and our many towns and villages."
