CHILDREN at a Winyates East school got their skates on to celebrate the Winter Olympics.

A synthetic rink was installed at Tenacres First School last Friday (January 31) to mark the beginning of a topic on the Games, which begin in Russia today (Friday).

Acting headteacher Jeanette Walters said: “At Tenacres we are constantly looking for ways to enhance the children’s learning experiences. We are exploring the new national curriculum to ensure topics are relevant and cross curricular, covering all subjects.

“You only had to look at the children’s faces to appreciate the impact it had on them. They will remember it for years to come.”
