THOUSANDS of pounds were raised for injured soldiers during a borough sports club’s centenary year.
Members of Redditch Golf Club handed over £17,000 to the Help For Heroes Injured Army Bear which was raised throughout 2013.
Events included a charity golf day, an auction, competitions, tombolas and raffles.
Centenary captain Tom Sheldon said the final figure was an ‘outstanding tribute’ to members and the many companies which made donations.
“Help For Heroes is something that is close to all our hearts and it is truly heartening to see how many people and businesses in the local community put their hands in their pockets to support us to such a great extent during the year.”
