VOLUNTEERS will be helping plant fruit trees at Morton Stanley Park’s community orchard.
The planting event, run in partnership with Headless Cross Community Orchard and Walkwood Middle School with trees donated by Redditch Round Table, will take place from 10am to 1pm tomorrow (Saturday).
Trees to be planted will include cherries, damsons, greengages and plums with local varieties such as Warwickshire Drooper, Pershore Purple and Yellow Egg.
David Bush, from the Round Table, said: “Their commitment to starting an orchard in Morton Stanley Park was outstanding, so we welcomed their request to widen the appeal with different types of fruit trees.
“It will be a wonderful resource for these children in the future, and their children.”
Families are welcome to help plant the trees and should meet near the skate park.
