Drugs arrest in Riverside

By Connie Osborne Thursday 06 February 2014 Updated: 07/02 09:16

A MAN was arrested in Riverside on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

The 23-year-old was held by West Mercia Police after officers used a drugs warrant to search a house on Forge Mill Road on Wednesday (February 5).

They discovered a quantity of what is believed to be cannabis as well as scales and bags.

He was released on bail awaiting further inquiries.

In September last year, a new three-year drug strategy designed to tackle the impact of drugs on communities was launched.

Sgt Richard Field said: "Drug dealing is a high priority for us, and as part of that, we welcome all information provided by the public.

"A key component is the reduction of supply and demand achieved through the identification and dismantling of trafficking and dealer networks, and the warrant executed in Forge Mill Road is an example of this.

"We will continue to execute drugs warrants and other operations in order to disrupt the activity of drug dealers, and want to encourage people to pass on any suspicions or concerns they have."

Anyone with any information about the arrest or drug related crimes should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
