A YOUNG performer is chopping off his long-haired locks to help his favourite charity replace money lost through funding cuts.

George Kings is willing to have at least 20 centimetres of his beloved hair lopped off to raise money for performing arts charity Indigo Arts, which he is a member of.

The ten-year-old has always refused to have his hair cut short, even opting to wear it in a pony tail when moving schools rather than face the barber’s chair.

But after discovering the charity had lost £4,000 worth of funding to cover the cost of the rent of its Kingsley Theatre base, George decided in order to keep Indigo growing he would have to face a date with the scissors.

The big cut off is set to take place on Wednesday, February 19 at 10.30am and his hairdresser is doing the dastardly deed free.

Cathy Moss, from Indigo, said: “Please get behind George, and spread the word, so that we can make sure he turns up for his appointment with the scissors, and feel that his hair raising experience has all been well worthwhile.”

Sponsorships forms are available from www.indigoarts.org.uk where donations can also be made online.
