A BUMPS, babes and toddlers group in Webheath has celebrated its first birthday.

About 21 families gathered at St Philip’s Church to enjoy a traditional Punch and Judy show, a baby disco and a homemade cake to mark the occasion.

The group, which meets every Thursday from 9.30am until 11.30am, was formed by volunteers from the church after they were approached by parents in the community.

Following a refurbishment of the church, which included removing pews, new carpet and a new heating system, the space was used by those expecting as well as parents in return for a £2 donation.

Jill Allbut, from St Philip’s Church, said the group was always well attended.

“It is really successful and well used by the community so we are obviously doing something right for parents and those expecting,” she said.

“We hope there are more years to come.”
