AN EXPLOSION of colour and dance is set to roar into Redditch Town Centre as part of celebrations to mark Chinese New Year.

Redditch Chinese Association has organised for a traditional Lion Dance to take place in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre next Saturday (February 8) at 1.15pm to welcome in the year of the horse.

It will be performed by professional Lion Dance troupe Choy Lee Fut and will bless the shops and centre, bringing good health and wealth to all.

The association will also have a pop-up shop in Worcester Square providing a range of cultural activities for people to take part in including calligraphy, arts and crafts and Chinese objects.

Boon Yeng, from the association, said: “It will be a razzmatazz of sound and vision with feats of agility and strength guaranteed to amaze.”

Chinese New Year starts today (Friday) and lasts for 15 days.
