Insulin pen stolen in Hewell car break-in

Monday 27 January 2014 Updated: 27/01 17:08

AN INSULIN pen was among items taken from one of two vehicles broken into at HMP Hewell.

The Chevrolet Orlando, parked at the Tardebigge prison off Hewell Lane, had its windows smashed between 2.30pm and 4pm on Sunday (January 26).

A silver and blue epi-pen containing the insulin, as well as a large black leather handbag, cash, white Apple iPhone 4 and a £400 Blackberry were all taken.

A Vauxhall Insignia was also broken into and had cash, a backpack with a picture of Elvis Presley riding a motorcycle, and 200 CDs stolen from it.

PC Damian Elcock of West Mercia Police said he was concerned the insulin within the epi-pens would be dangerous if taken by any person not needing it.

"Anyone who finds them is asked to take them to a hospital, medical centre, or pharmacy, where they can be safely disposed of.

"Any person who has taken insulin or any other medication not prescribed for them is urged to seek urgent medical attention."

Witnesses or anyone with any information should contact PC Elcock on 101 quoting incident 405-s-260114 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
