Three burglaries in Bromsgrove and Redditch in three days

THREE burglaries have taken place in Bromsgrove and Redditch in as many days.

In the latest one, in Greenhill, Blackwell, the thieves forced their way into a shed, taking a garden fork and a pair of shears which they then used to force open the property's French doors. It happened between 2.30pm and 9.40pm yesterday (Thursday). Damage totalling £8,000 was caused but nothing was stolen.

Prior to that, at 5.15pm on Tuesday (January 21), there was an attempted burglary at a house in Bear Hill Drive in Alvechurch.

A concrete slab was used to smash a window - that caused damage worth £200 but nothing was stolen.

And, before that, between 3.15pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday (January 21), the raiders targeted a home in Wolverton Close, Redditch. After gaining access to the back garden, they smashed a large pane of glass in a window and stole costume jewellery worth £50.

Det Con Paul Lettis, from West Mercia Police, said: “In all three incidents access was gained to the rear gardens, which enabled the offenders to break in or attempt to break in without being seen from the street.

“Householders are being urged to consider ways of preventing access being gained to the rear, such as keeping side gates locked, using high fencing, and planting prickly shrubs and bushes along boundaries.”

Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
