A SIGNED Manchester United football, a BMW car for the weekend and signed Garry Barlow CD are among items being auctioned to raise money for the hospital which cared for a Winyates girl.
The auction, which will take place on Friday, February 14 is being held by parents Michelle and Wayne Southall to raise funds for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital where their 12-year-old daughter Lucie lost her battle against leukaemia.
The event will run from 7pm at the Town Hall and tickets cost £10 which includes a three course meal, disco and entry into a raffle to win a bottle of champagne.
Redditch’s MP Karen Lumley will be compère for the evening and items going under the hammer include a signed Aston Villa shirt and ball, a dartboard signed by stars including Phil The Power Taylor, a signed copy of comedian John Bishop’s autobiography, as well as a JLS signed book, an autographed copy of Cliff Richard’s album, a bottle of scotch signed by the Prime Minister and expensive perfumes.
All the money made on the night will go to the hospital and help with a £4 million refurbishment of Ward 15 where Lucie was cared for.
Michelle, Wayne and son Ashley said being able to be involved in such fantastic charity work in Lucie’s name kept them going from day to day.
“We couldn’t do it without all the support from our friends and family and all the truly fantastic companies that have, and are donating their time and their products so we can put on such wonderful charity events,” they said.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported us in any way since Lucie’s passing. Thank you so much.”
Mrs Lumley added: “In such horrible and difficult circumstances, being a parent of two myself I can’t begin to imagine what the family have been through, to be incredibly brave and to put your energy into helping others is just truly amazing.
“It is a great cause and I hope residents as well as those attending the auction will continue to support it.”
