A SHOP assistant called for help as a man attempted to steal money from a Batchley store.
The incident occurred about 7.15am on Tuesday (January 21) when a man walked into Spar on Batchley Road, as another waited outside.
The robber threatened the assistant and told him to hand over cash from the till before running off with his accomplice after the assistant raised the alarm.
He then pulled the till to the floor but nothing was stolen.
Detectives from North Worcestershire CID have launched an investigation and the area around the store was cordoned off for examination.
Officers have also been speaking to witnesses and analysing CCTV footage, and have now released images of two men they wish to trace in connection with the incident.
It is believed both men went into the store shortly after it opened about 6am, bought some items, and walked to a nearby pond before returning later to try and rob the shop.
Both the men were white and one was about 6ft tall with a beard and wearing sunglasses. He was dressed in jeans and a dark jacket. The other man was described as aged in his 40s, stocky and bald.
Det Sgt Justin Taylor said: "Although fortunately no one was hurt this was a nasty incident and we are determined to find the men responsible.
"We would appeal to anyone who may have seen these individuals in that area this morning to get in touch with us and likewise if someone thinks they know who they might be from the descriptions we have."
Det Con Claire Johnson of North Worcestershire CID added: "Whether you know their names, live near to one of them or think you have seen them somewhere we need to know as it could be vital to our inquiries."
Anyone with any information should contact Det Sgt Taylor at Redditch Police Station on 101, quoting incident reference 71-S-210114 or Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555 111.
