PUPILS swapped pens for paint brushes to create murals of their heroes.

Students from the Forge Secondary Short Stay School teamed up with artist Dave Webb and graphic design company Beard to produce images of iconic figures such as Albert Einstein, Mohammed Ali and Eminem, on their school walls.

The paintings encourage those at the school to tell their success stories and will act as a visual reminder of the difficulties they have faced and overcome.

Headteacher Sean Williams, said the artwork was one of many steps staff have taken to help vulnerable pupils get back on track and encourage them into further education and employment.

“Staff and pupils are proud of this school and the artwork and signage has really helped us to tell our story and strive for the best opportunities for local young people.”

He added a recent good Ofsted inspection supported how well the school worked with students and their families.
