WALKWOOD Middle School students sprinted to success after landing in first place in the district cross country.

More than 110 pupils from the school battled the elements to compete in the endurance race at Redditch Rugby Club which saw Year 5 and 6 boys take the title.

Year 8 girls also finished in the top spot, while the rest of the school ended the race within the top three.

And the school’s football team also accomplished their goals after winning the Year 8 cup finals against St Bede’s Middle School.

A spokeswoman from the school said the entire PE department was extremely proud of everyone’s performance.
