BUDDING actors are set to take to the stage for a powerful stage version of a famous book.

Palace Youth Theatre performers will be telling the tale of Lords of the Flies from January 30 to February 1.

William Golding’s novel, adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams, follows the story of a group of children who survive a plane crash on a desert island. Their struggle for survival sees them descend into tribalism and bloodthirsty barbarity.

Liz Sifford, Redditch Borough Council youth theatre and arts officer, said: “The Palace Youth Theatre groups have been working hard on Lord of the Flies and we’re all expecting another excellent performance in the new year following on from some of 2013’s successes like Wizard of Oz and our Arabian Nights-themed 1001 PYT Nights.”

For tickets costing £12.75 (£10.75) to the 7.30pm performances with a 2.30pm Saturday matinée, visit or call 01527 65203.
