THIS was the scene after a tree fell on a car in strong winds which have battered the borough in recent days.

The Lime tree, which is believed to be around 100-years-old, crushed a resident's Peugeot 806 on Hewell Close in Tardebigge on Friday, December 27 after falling across the road during high winds.

Resident Dan Bettes said he heard a big crash about 3am.

"I couldn't see anything at first so I went back to bed. But then my wife called me about 5am and there were all these people with chainsaws going to try and cut it up and move it because it is such a big tree.

"A tractor came down and took some away but there are still bits left."

A spokeswoman from West Mercia Police said officers attended an incident about 4am which involved a tree registered to a property in Hewell Close.

A spokeswoman from Worcestershire County Council, said although they had not received any reports of trees falling in Tardebigge, a member of the Highways Team would investigate the issue.
