DARE to dream was the message to students at a borough school from a top rugby coach.

Sir Ian McGeechan OBE, who led the British and Irish Lions in 1989, 1993, 1997 and 2009, attended Trinity High School’s annual awards evening to help recognise the achievements of students.

He spoke to them about the importance of having aspirations telling them: “You don’t stop dreaming when you wake up.”

Mr McGeechan also explained how his team’s successes were based on hard work, dedication and commitment from all, saying it was important to plant ‘roots to grow that will give you wings to fly’.

Several awards were handed out during the evening and headteacher Marian Barton, on her final awards evening before her retirement next year, said she was ‘proud to lead such an exemplary team of outstanding students and staff’ and being shortlisted for the TES Awards last summer was a highlight of her career.

She also thanked staff, students, parents/carers for their support in making Trinity the most improved school in England for 2013.
