MORE than 80 older people had the chance to enjoy a Christmas party thanks to young people in Matchborough.

The district’s Youth Forum held their annual festive event last Thursday (December 19) funded by Coun Joe Baker’s divisional funds from Worcestershire County Council.

Entertainment included poetry, jokes and a performance from the Ipsley Academy Choir as well as a raffle including nine hampers donated by Arrow Vale Academy.

Forum leader Coun Juliet Brunner said: “I’m thrilled we were able to continue with this event, so many people are alone on Christmas Day and this gave our young people the opportunity to share some festive cheer. I’m really grateful to all the young people from Matchborough Youth Forum, Coun Joe Baker, Ipsley Academy and Arrow Vale

Academy who all contributed to make the day a huge success.”
