A GROUP of super slimmers have donated more than 1,500 items to help feed those in need across the borough.

The 150 members of the Batchley, Ipsley and Church Hill Slimming World groups collected the food over the course of just one week, before it was handed over to Redditch Food Bank.

Slimming World consultant Carron Edmundson said the response had been overwhelming with some members personally donating as much as £100 worth of food. “We saw the article in the Standard about the food bank and there’s a really strong, friendly community feel amongst the groups and we wanted to do something for our town,” she said.

“We’ve had an amazing response from our members, I’m so proud of them and the generosity they have shown.”

Rev Robin Baker, from Redditch Food Bank, said: “The response shows we have people who really care about our town.”
