FUND-RAISERS from Redditch Lions Club raised more than £400 for those affected by the devastating typhoon in the Philippines.

The team collected money from shoppers in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre as part of a national Lions club mission to send 1,000 Life Saver water filter cans to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

The cans which cost £190 each can supply up to 20,000 litres of safe water for drinking and washing before a replacement filter is needed.

Lions Clubs International has already purchased 112 cans which are currently being distributed by members in the disaster area.

Those who would like to add to the funds should contact Redditch Lions on 0845 833 5914.
