HUNDREDS of residents found out about Christmas and New Year support during a two-day event hosted by the town's Mental Health Action Group.

Volunteers handed out 900 leaflets to shoppers over the weekend (December 14 and 15) in a bid to highlight services available during the festive period for those needing mental health, council, debt or family advice and information.

Elaine Grant, MHAG member and from Redditch Early Help's community development team, said: "I think the information we gave out at the weekend was well received, which shows the need out there.

"The plan is for Redditch MHAG to have much more of a presence in the community in 2014 so people can find out more about how to access help and support."
