A NEW rector has been appointed to Alcester Minster.
Rev Adrian Guthrie will now serve the congregation at St Nicholas Church on the High Street, as well as minister to the surrounding area.
This is made up of five parishes comprising Arrow with Weethley, Kinwarton with Great Alne, Haselor, Coughton and Sambourne.
He was officially installed by the Bishop of Warwick and the Right Reverend John Stroyan at St Nicholas Church last Tuesday (December 3) in a public service where he was joined by residents as well as family and friends from his previous church in Ickenham near Uxbridge.
He said: "It is good time of year to be taking on the new role and it is a very busy time of year too.
"I'm excited about the potential and I've been impressed with the community spirit. St Nicholas Night in the town provided me with a snapshot of the great community and how organisations and residents work together wonderfully. All ages took part and it was lovely to see."
Rev Guthrie added he looked forward to finding his feet and meeting new people as well as working closely with other churches.
"I see an opportunity for more integration with the community and I would love to see the churches grow, not just to see more people at church, but to know more people are worshipping God," he said.
"It is a big challenge but I think the tide is turning and people are becoming more interested and it is a privilege to be part of that process."
