A MAN has died after being being involved in a collision with a lorry while he was walking on the motorway near Alvechurch.
Police are still trying to find out the identity of the man and the circumstances surrounding the incident which took place on the M42 on Monday (December 16).
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the northbound carriageway, between Junction 3 (Birmingham South, Redditch) and Junction 2 (Hopwood), was closed about 10.15pm for around three hours.
The scene was investigated by officers from both the Central Motorway Police Group and the West Mercia Police collision investigation unit. The driver of the heavy goods vehicle was not hurt in the incident.
Sgt Dave Lonsdale said: “We are still working to establish who the man is and further searches are being made at the scene this morning.
"This was a tragic incident and we would appeal to anyone who may have seen the collision or the man walking on or alongside the motorway before it happened to contact us as a matter of urgency."
