THE TRANSPORT minister has suggested renaming a Birmingham train station in honour of Redditch's MP.
Karen Lumley questioned minister Robert Goodwill about the possibility of renaming Birmingham International station prior to the development of the HS2 railway line which will link London with the second city.
Mr Goodwill welcomed the 'sensible suggestion' and suggested 'Lumley Junction' should be considered if and when rebranding took place.
"I am delighted with the Minister’s suggestion that Birmingham International station be renamed ‘Lumley Junction’, although I suspect that he may have just been getting a little carried away by the spirit of Christmas," she said.
"The rebranding of the station is an important issue. Making it clear to holiday-makers and business travellers that Birmingham airport is easily accessible will ensure that the city can continue to go from strength-to-strength."
