ENJOY Christmas in a healthy way was the message to residents in Winyates.
A special Christmas Swaps event was held at the district’s new community hub The Space last Friday (December 6) to promote the importance of healthy living over the festive period.
Health trainers from Worcestershire Health and Care Trust were on hand with tips and advice such as serving smaller treats with less calories, using low fat sausages or fresh fruit and yoghurt or creme fraiche instead of crisps and dips. There was also a recipe for a non-alcoholic cocktail and residents could try walking in pair of ‘beer goggles’ to highlight the consequences of drinking too much. Health MOTs were also on offer.
Mandy Childs, senior health trainer who runs the Redditch team, said healthy swaps could also aid those enjoying Christmas on a budget.
“We’re not saying don’t have this don’t have that - we’re not the food police - but there are swaps and alternatives,” she said.
