A MATCHBOROUGH mother is appealing for residents to remember soldiers serving abroad this Christmas.
Elaine Brough’s son Charlie is currently in Afghanistan with A Company of the 3rd Mercian Battalion. The 20-year-old joined the armed forces last October and completed his training shortly before going out to serve in September.
She told the Standard she hoped residents would remember or even send out gifts to those out there over the festive period.
Charlie added: “I hope everyone in Redditch has an amazing Christmas and New Year with your family. I hope you all have a great start to the year and I can’t wait to get back and see all my friends and family.”
