A DANCER from Redditch has gone from the Strictly dancefloor to being crowned world champion.

Daniel Wright, 11, and his partner Ella Perry were crowned as World Latin Champions in the juveniles under-11 category at Disneyland, Paris last Friday (December 6).

The pair, who train at New Cottage Dance Centre in Ystrad Mynach in Wales, faced fierce competition for the title from strong dancers from Ukrainian and Russian dancers.

Daniel’s success comes less than a month after the St Bede’s Catholic Middle School pupil performed with Ella on hit BBC television show Strictly Come Dancing at Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

The duo have already spent more than two years representing Great Britain on numerous World Open and International championships.

Mum Helen, from Smallwood, said: “Both are so talented and have a really hard work ethic and are great characters.

“This result is the work of so many people. Keep dancing little stars.”
