A WOMAN from Redditch has been found dead in Bolton.
Rebecca May's body was found in a wooded area near Manchester Road next to the River Croal at Raikes Clough.
A Home Office post mortem into the 37-year-old's death proved inconclusive.
Greater Manchester Police say Rebecca was originally from Redditch but was not living in the borough at the time of her death and they do not know why she was in Bolton.
They have issued an appeal for information to trace her last whereabouts but do not believe anyone else was involved in her death.
Rebecca was last seen by friends on Saturday, August 31 in Manchester and on Sunday, September 1 travelled to Botlon by train, arriving at Trinity Street Railway Station about midday.
She was wearing a black tee shirt with a diamond effect cat motif, a black cardigan, black trousers and calf length, black, Doctor Martin boots.
Since she was last sighted, Rebecca had obtained a dark blue Zara duffle coat that had a belt and a black fur collar, which may have been bought from a charity shop.
Rebecca suffered from severe migraines and may also have bought pain relief medication, whilst in the town centre.
In the first week of September, Rebecca was seen on at least two occasions by the river in Raikes Clough, a wooded area next to the A666 and close to Raikes Lane.
Det Insp Sarah May, from Bolton North INPT, said: "Formal identification has now taken place and we have been able to inform the family of Rebecca about their loss.
"Although the post mortem proved inconclusive, there is nothing at this stage to suggest that there was any third party involvement in her death."
