GENEROUS shoppers donated almost two tonnes of food to help support those most in need across Redditch.
A collection was held outside Tesco in Oakenshaw last weekend and saw 1.7 tonnes of food given.
Rev Robin Baker, of Oasis Christian Centre and chairman of Redditch Foodbank, said he was grateful for the support of volunteers and Tesco staff.
"I would like to personally thank all those people who gave so generously over the weekend and who have started to give to our foodbank on a regular basis. It will really make a difference to those people over Christmas who will have no food."
Since September 9 Redditch Foodbank has given out 2.95 tonnes of food and fed 374 people. It is expected 18 tonnes of food will be given out over a 12 month period.
Toys are also being collected for children in families in need over the Christmas period and can be donated at The Entertainer store in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, Oasis shops in Winyates and Woodrow and the Oasis Christian Centre in Plymouth Road until Friday, December 13.
