RESIDENTS in Redditch can now recycle their rubbish on the move as part of a new trial by the borough council.

Green public recycling bins for paper, plastic, glass and aluminium cans have been installed alongside regular rubbish bins on the streets of Winyates Centre.

The trial is the idea of the local environmental team, known as a 'place' team, which has taken on responsibility in the area for litter picking and emptying rubbish bins. If the bins prove popular they will be rolled out to other parts of the borough.

As part of the council's transformation of services the team has been given responsibility for doing whatever it takes to improve the area, regardless of whether or not it fits in with their specific responsibilities or is part of their department. The aim is to tackle underlying issues rather than just the problem itself.
