COMMUTERS travelling in and out of Redditch on the trains had a nightmare start to the morning when damaged cables led to train delays.
The 6.57am to Lichfield, via Birmingham New Street, was ten minutes late, the next one - at 7.27am was four minutes late and the two after that were delayed by 14 minutes and six minutes respectively.
But, the situation was much worse for those coming into Redditch to go to school or work - the train due in at 8.20am was delayed by nine minutes and then the two after that - which were supposed to get in at 8.50am and 9.20am were both cancelled by operator London Midland.
The wire fault responsible in Berkswell was reported at 7.30am and that had a knock-on effect, causing congestion at New Street Station and on the Cross City Line.
A London Midland spokesperson said replacement bus services would operate between the town and Longbridge and it was hoped services should be running as normal by lunchtime.
