AN ASTWOOD Bank chef has been voted the best curry chef in Worcestershire.
Mohammed Masum Miah, from Little India on Evesham Road, was presented with the accolade at the 2013 Curry Chef of the Year awards held in London.
Mr Mia was one of 46 chefs to receive the official recognition for their contribution to the industry.
Guests at the event, which took place at the Lancaster Hotel, included secretary of state Eric Pickles, economist Lord Meghnad Desai and Lord Karan Bilimoria, founder of Cobra Beer and one of the award’s longest standing sponsors.
A statement on the restaurant's Facebook page said: "Winning the award is an achievement that is the ultimate satisfaction for all the team at Little India who have worked extremely hard to maintain such a high level of quality and consistency expected by the judges.
"Most of all a massive thank you to those who went the extra mile and nominated Little India for this extremely prestigious award.
"I am sure you will take pride as we have done in having a local restaurant recognised in the country."
