MAINTENANCE work at a Redditch sports club has been helped along thanks to a donation from a funeral directors.
The Co-operative Funeralcare has given £1,000 to Hewell Bowling Club to help funds its new steps and storage shed as part of its Making A Difference community dividend fund which sees a percentage of profits going to groups in the area.
Club president Martin Lawrence said: “Hewell is an active bowling club with league and social bowling. In order to meet the needs of our members we set about contacting local businesses and organisations for funding and we were delighted when The Co-operative Funeralcare offered to help.”
Joy Welch, Midlands Co-operative PR officer, added: “This is a great example of a local club that brings the people of Redditch together. Our funeral home is at the centre of the community and we are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile local project in this way.”
