A STUDLEY skier hit the slopes to secure an Olympic coaching session.
Anya Hemming from St Mary’s C of E Junior School took part in the British Artificial Ski Championships where she slid to victory in the under tens category.
The eight-year-old flew through the 180m course in 20 seconds, beating her rivals as well as bagging the top spot in another run which included rollers and jumps.
As a prize for winning her category, Anya will travel to Austria with ski organisation Team Evolution where she will ski alongside elite athletes for a week.
The Midland Ski Club member, who has already achieved 11 podium finishes in competitions around the county, will also receive training from GB Junior Olympic coaches while away.
Headteacher Sue Lambert said: “We are so proud of Anya’s achievements in this extreme sport as a result of both her and her family’s amazing commitment.”
