SUCCESS was in store at a borough school as staff and pupils celebrated achieving a prestigious award.
Matchborough First School was given a gold award in the Heart of England in Bloom competition for the second year running.
Headteacher Jackie Harris said: “This award recognises all the hard work by the children, staff and local community which has turned the school grounds into a wonderful array of colour.
“The children have all had class gardens and grown a variety of vegetable from aubergines to zuccinis.”
Ward councillor Juliet Brunner added: “It’s fantastic news but it comes as no surprise to me that Matchborough has won gold yet again. The school always looks lovely and the children are so enthusiastic about the environment. It’s a well deserved award.”
