A CORE day in the Headless Cross calender is set to feature a harvest share stall, apple juicing and a cider bar.
The Apple Day at the district’s green will include food and craft stalls, a human fruit machine and seedbomb making.
Running from 11am to 3pm next Saturday (October 5), the event will raise funds for and awareness of the community orchard.
Orchard volunteer Alistair Waugh said: “We’ve got an abundance of activities this year. If you’re a gardener with a glut of fruit or vegetables, then bring them along to share and swap on our harvest share stall. Browse the orchard and learn about the fruit trees we’ve got growing, or simply relax with a cider or soup.
“Roll up your sleeves and help make apple juice. There’s a lot of fruit this year, in gardens and parks, so if you’ve got surplus apples or pears why not bring them along, we’ll make sure you go home with some fresh juice.
“Our volunteers are creating a wildflower meadow on the Green, so if you fancy doing the same in your garden, you can take away some seedbombs to make your own wildlife habitat.”
