A MACMILLAN worker will be putting her best foot forward for a walking event in aid of the charity.
Helen Clifton, who works in the environments team, is one of hundreds set to take part in the Miles for Macmillan event at Ragley Hall on Sunday, September 15.
She said: “I’m walking for Macmillan at Ragley and hoping friends will join me for an enjoyable Sunday morning. Many of my friends and family have been affected by cancer and having worked for the charity for six years I know how important the support can be.
“This is my small way of trying to make a difference so that Macmillan can help people when they need it most.”
The event, supported by Boots UK, has a three-mile and an eight-mile route, with walkers challenged to raise more than £150.
Kelly Whitehouse, the charity’s Worcestershire fund-raising manager, said: “Macmillan provides vital cancer support services and we rely on donations to fund them - £150 could give a mum who’s found out she’s just got breast cancer a steadying hand. It could give her someone to help her cope with chemo, provide a listening ear when she’s frightened, and support her with getting back to normal afterwards.
“More than 3,000 people across Worcestershire are diagnosed with cancer every year. Macmillan is here for them.”
