INDIVIDUALS and organisations are set to join forces in a bid to raise millions by raising a cuppa in aid of a cancer charity.
Among those set to host an event to mark Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Coun Pattie Hill who will be offering coffee and cake at Redditch Town Hall from 10am to 1pm.
Coun Hill, who also volunteers for the charity, said: “Everyone can be involved in such a positive event to ensure those people in our local communities, if affected by cancer, do not have to live through the experience alone.”
Refreshments will also be on offer at Hallowood Furniture in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on the day.
Sales manager Ronnie Cosier said all four of their branches, including the Redditch store, were getting involved to ensure their customers - some of whom would be affected by cancer - could be supported by Macmillan when they needed it most.
Kelly Whitehouse, the charity’s fund-raising manager for Worcestershire, added this was the 23rd year of World’s Biggest Coffee Morning events, which last year raised £15 million.
All of the money raised would go to help fund vital services including specialist nurses and doctors, grants and money advice for patients.
“We want to make sure no one has to face cancer alone but we can’t do it without the amazing people who fund-raise for us so we are extremely grateful to Pattie, the team at Hallowood and the supportive Redditch community for getting behind this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.”
