THE HARD work of women of different ages and cultures across the town was celebrated at a bank holiday event.
The Women of Redditch vintage-themed garden party was organised by Rebecca Blake, Labour Parliamentary spokeswoman for the borough, with more than 70 individuals and representatives from organisations attending.
Kayleigh Fitzgerald from Your Ideas said: "We were pleased to be a part of such a fantastic event. Celebrating the hard work and achievements of local women is such a great idea, it is unbelievable it hasn't been done before.
"Rebecca did a great job of bringing together a very diverse group of like-minded women who were able to chat and network over a good cup of tea and piece of cake."
Ms Blake added: "Many people in this town are working hard in the community, however I wanted an occasion to mark the role of women, who are all too often juggling many commitments but still making time to help others. The tea party allowed me to do just that, to thank women for 'Working Together for a Better Redditch' which is my ongoing campaign about making our town an even better place to live."
