A SHOP assistant was struck in the face during an assault at Redditch's Iceland store.
The incident happened on Sunday (August 18) at around 2.30pm when a customer approached a woman working on the tills at the Trafford Retail Park branch and started talking to her.
He was asked by another member of staff to switch to another till at which point an altercation broke out and the customer hit the cashier in the face. He suffered a minor injury which did not require medical treatment.
A 38-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault and after questioning was released on police bail until September 10 pending further inquiries.
PC James Hall said: "We have spoken to staff at the store but we really need to hear from anyone else who was shopping there and saw or heard part or all of what happened. If they did witness something then it’s important they come forward and help our investigation. This attack appears to have taken place without any provocation."
Anyone with any information should call PC Hall on 101, quoting incident reference number 417-S-180813, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
