THE MAIN bus service company in Redditch has been cleared of reducing competition after taking over their main competitor.
The decision was made by the Office of Fair Trading on Friday (August 23) following the merger by Diamond, which saw them acquire the Redditch and Kidderminster operations of First Group earlier this year.
It is expected Diamond will now carry out a network review and make changes, which they had been stopped from doing while the probe was ongoing.
Karen Lumley MP said she was pleased Diamond would now be able to improve the bus services in the borough following many months of uncertainty.
" I have held many meetings over the past few months with Diamond and am thrilled that they are now in a position to provide the services the residents here in Redditch actually want. They have been hampered by an investigation by the Office of Fair Trading who I have also had many dealings with over the last few months.
"I am now looking forward to working with Diamond to ensure Redditch gets the bus service it needs and deserves. This news is good for the future of our bus service. Now we must get on and deliver improvements"
