A SURGEON and his secretary have both retired after working at the Alexandra Hospital for more than 50 years between them.
Alan Price joined the team as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon on the day the Woodrow Drive hospital opened in 1986, with Lindsey Pile joining three months later.
The pair retired on Friday (August 16), with Mr Price being presented with a special surgical instrument as a gift from theatre sister Sharon Merry.
He said was 'proud' to have been associated with the Alex and thanked his colleagues for the support they had given him, as well as paying tribute to his secretary.
Trust medical director Mark Wade said: "The Trust board would like to thank you for your service and dedication and wishes you well for the future."
