AN INQUEST is due to be opened into the death of a man who was hit by a train at Barnt Green Station on Good Friday (March 29).

The incident, which took place at 1.18pm on the line that runs between Birmingham and Redditch, involved the 11.07am Cross Country train from Manchester to Bristol

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said the man who was hit was in his 60s and from Harborne and that the incident was not currently being treated as suspicious.

He added a crew from West Midlands Ambulance Service attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner," he said.

A London Midland spokesperson said services were disrupted until 1.50pm.
