THE RUGBY League World Cup touched down in Bromsgrove this week as the excitement builds ahead of the sport's biggest event later this year.

The 2013 Rugby League World Cup takes place in October and November and on Wednesday fans had the chance to have their picture taken with the trophy when it stopped off at Bromsgrove Rugby Club, the home of North East Worcestershire Ravens RLFC.

Ravens' Finstall Park home was one of just two venues in the Midlands chosen to host the trophy as the Rugby League World Cup trophy tours the UK in the build-up to the eagerly awaited 2013 World Cup, which is being hosted by England and Wales and will also feature matches in Ireland and France.

The event also offered an open taster training session to all ages and abilities, information on playing, coaching and match officials’ opportunities in the Midlands.

NEW Ravens' 2013 season starts in early May and the club will be entering teams at open age into the Midland Premier League, which will also involve Telford Raiders, Birmingham Bulldogs, Coventry Dragons, Coventry Bears A, Leicester Storm A, Northampton Demons A and Sleaford Spartans.

There are various age groups with teams and new and existing players are all welcome to start training at the club. For more information visit www.newravensrl.co.uk or call Luke on 07572 479690 or Nigel on 07730 453440.
