A MAN has pleaded guilty to injuring someone with a Samurai sword and damaging a vehicle.

Luke Downes, from Arthur Street in Lakeside, appeared at Redditch Magistrates' Court yesterday (Monday) charged with threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place, criminal damage and assault.

The 24-year-old admitted to the offences which took place in Arthur Street, about 12.45pm on Saturday, March 16.

Armed officers were sent to the scene and Downes was later arrested nearby.

The victim received a number of superficial cuts to his neck but was not badly injured.

Redditch Inspector Ian Joseph said this was an isolated incident as the two men were known to each other.

He added officers were at the scene very quickly and the offender was arrested and charged nearby before being remanded in custody.

He will next appear before magistrates on Monday, April 8.
