THE LITTLE boy who walked for the first time thanks to the generosity of Redditch residents has met the doctor who operated on him two years on.

Harry Mitchel, who has cerebral palsy, travelled to America in 2011 after £40,000 was raised to fund an operation to increase his mobility. Two years later pioneering surgeon Dr Park hosted a party in Daventry for the five-year-old and 92 other children who have already had the operation or are waiting to.

Harry’s dad Mark said: “Dr Park said he is really pleased with the progress he has made. It was a great night.”

The Hunt End family also won the top raffle prize which was a two-week intense physiotherapy session at a specialist centre in Scotland.

Mark added: “We can’t believe that it has been two years since his operation and to see how far he has come is overwhelming.

“Harry’s immense progress would not have been possible without the operation and on top of that the fantastic help and support he is receiving from the staff at Matchborough First School.”
